From Pirate Fest Website:

So what is Pirate Fest?? Why Pirate Fest is Pirate Fest!!

It is a unique family oriented themed festival. Why pirates? Because everybody loves pirates!!!

We love the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland, we love the movie franchise that it spawned, we love pirates every Halloween (pirates have been in the top five costumes for the last 20 years!! Tough considering how many super heroes have surfaced in that time frame!!) We all LOVE pirates!! Mom, Dad, brothers, sisters, doesn't matter we all love pirates! So families love pirates!!

Pirate Fest is where you go to get your pirate on!! Because unlike most festivals, you aren't just an observer, you are a PARTICIPANT!! The motto is don't just watch the pirates...BE the Pirate!! How do you be the pirate?

Well you can dress the part and no one will look strangely at you. Instead you might get a raised eyebrow and a "nice outfit"!

As a parent the best part is that you can say you're only doing for the kids!! When in your heart you are channeling Errol Flynn!! Speaking of kids, every kid LOVES to dress as a pirate! Or the little girls might prefer a princess, faerie or even a mermaid...Pirate Fest has them all! And for the kids we have them participate the moment they enter the park!!

As you enter our realm the kids grab a Treasure Map! But this is no ordinary map, not at Pirate Fest! Mom and Dad can find their way through the park to find things like the shows, the food , the vendors, the bathrooms (very important), the beer garden (even MORE important later in the day!). But to our little pirate it is the map to the Red X's!! Find each X and you find a task. You get a pirate name, make a pirate hat or maybe an eye patch, you get to swab the deck, walk a plank, make a piece of rope, see how steel is forged, in fact you get to do about a dozen pirate tasks!! Complete the tasks and you get Pirate Booty!!! First you get a Letter of Marque! That was what the King did to make you an official pirate for the crown! Then you get stuff!! Pirate Booty! Arrrr!

During your travels through the park you see food treats from around the globe! There are unique craft vendors that have everything a pirate, faeries or steampunk character could ever desire! There is entertainment everywhere! Singers, performers, jugglers, musicians, craftsmen, and pirates! New this year is the Pirate Puppet Show where the Las Vegas Family Puppet Theater perform and tell you the story behind the pirates in the desert!!There are pirates doing skits, heck there' s even mermaids!! What could be better than that?? How about winning cruise aboard a REAL Tall Ship?

That's right! You can get registered to win a TRIP for TWO aboard the historic tall ship S/V Mandalay from Sail Windjammer Cruises! Here you hoist a sail, steer the ship, or just sit back and sip rum!! Sailing the Caribbean in a real Tall Ship...like a real pirate!! Talk about doing!!

There's lots for pirates of ALL ages! For the experienced Pirate, we have a Whiskey Tasting that benefits The Paradise Ranch Foundation! Master Mixologist and Guinness World Book Record Holder, Bobby Gleason of Beam/Suntory leads you through the fine distinctions of some fine whiskeys.. oh there might be a RUM in there too! Paradise Ranch Foundation works with people with mental health issues thought the use of HAT (Horse Assisted Therapy).

For one day the world as we know it melts away, we are transported into a new realm. The land of the pirates! For at least one day, we don't just watch pirates..we get to BE Pirates!! Maybe even a Pirate Family! Tomorrow we can go back to reality, but today we get to be PIRATES!! Why? Because we went to PIRATE FEST!!!
